PTI will give the final date to dissolve the assemblies in Lahore Jalsa
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) plans to end the rallies by Friday (December 16) under its 'Election Krao, Malik Bachao' campaign and will hold a big rally in Lahore on Saturday (December 17) where party chief Imran Khan will announce the final plan to dissolve the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assemblies.
According to the report of Dawn newspaper, talking to the media at Zaman Park, Imran Khan's residence, PTI leader Hammad Azhar said that the party has planned to hold simultaneous rallies in all the divisional headquarters on December 17, where Imran Khan The address will be broadcast via video link.
He said that a main rally will be organized at Liberty Chowk in Lahore on Saturday and live coverage of the rally will be done through video link in other parts of the country.
PTI Punjab President Dr. Yasmin Rashid and Hamad Azhar along with local and provincial leadership of the party met Imran Khan to finalize the plan and arrangements.
Meanwhile, PTI's senior minister Mian Aslam Iqbal while briefing the media at different places said that his party and its allies are on the same page on the issue of dissolution of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa legislatures.
He said that a meeting has been called under the chairmanship of Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan, in which the final date for dissolving the assemblies will be decided and it will be announced in a rally at Liberty Chowk.
Mian Aslam Iqbal suggested that in my personal opinion the assemblies should be dissolved before December 20 so that elections can be held before Ramadan.
According to some media groups, Mian Aslam Iqbal further said that Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has already handed over the summary of dissolution of Punjab Assembly to Imran Khan.
On the other hand, PTI insiders claim that the opinion of party MPs and allies is still divided on the issue of dissolution of assemblies.
An important provincial minister said, "Most of the PTI MPs believe that the dissolution of the assemblies does not make any sense from the electoral and political point of view."
Advising to adopt realism, he said, 'PTI MPs have this opinion for 2 reasons, Imran Khan never consulted them before announcing it in Rawalpindi rally and neither did he. ever bothered to tell him what benefits the party had gained by vacating the National Assembly seats earlier'.
He said that 'funds have just started flowing into our constituencies and at this stage the dissolution of the assemblies is sure to cause electoral disaster, the flow of funds will stop and Tehreek-e-Insaaf will fight as an opposition party in the next elections'.
He said that 'if one evaluates the current situation in a rational manner, this decision hardly makes any sense from a political point of view'.
