On the order of the Supreme Court, the Islamabad Police has registered the case of the murder of well-known journalist Arshad Sharif in the Ramna police station. A police complaint filed at Islamabad's Ramna police station under Sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code has named Khurram Ahmed, Waqar Ahmed and Tariq Ahmed Wasi.

It has been stated in the FIR that Inspector Mian Muhammad Shehbaz reached the Pims Hospital in Islamabad on receiving the information, where Arshad Sharif's dead body was brought to Pakistan from abroad.

The report states that the postmortem of Arshad Sharif was conducted by the medical board and the board handed over 4 parcels of samples and a coin bullet sample, however, the postmortem report was not given at that time while the body was handed over to the next of kin. The police have said that Arshad Sharif was killed abroad and his inquiry is being conducted at a high level while the parcels of samples given by the medical board were kept in the police station.

It has been said in the case that according to the postmortem report, Arshad Sharif died due to the fire of firearms.

Khurram Ahmed, Waqar Ahmed and Tariq Ahmed Wasi have been named as accused in the murder of Arshad Sharif in the case registered at Ramna police station and the investigation will be under sections 34, 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Earlier, the Supreme Court had ordered to register a case on Arshad Sharif's murder.A larger bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Atta Bandial comprising Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan, Justice Jamal Mandukhel, Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazahar heard the suo motu case.

During the hearing, Foreign Secretary Asad Majeed, DG FIF Mohsin Butt, Information Secretary Shahira Shahid, PFUJ President Afzal Butt, DGIB, Home Secretary, PUFJ President reached the Supreme Court.

The Chief Justice had said that everyone has the right to access the investigation report, the journalist was killed, it should be revealed who killed him.

The Chief Justice said that Arshad Sharif's medical report is unsatisfactory, the matter is being taken seriously, a 5-member bench has been formed due to the seriousness of the situation, Abuse of journalists will not be tolerated under any circumstances. If someone gives wrong news, then legislate in this regard.

During the hearing, the Chief Justice said that according to our information, no case has been registered, the Foreign Office should submit a reply regarding the investigation and registration of a case in Kenya by tomorrow.

The Chief Justice said that journalists are the voice of truth, it is a matter of human life, Arshad Sharif was a renowned journalist, journalists are the source of information, people are very worried about the murder, all the facts of Arshad Sharif's murder must be brought forward. No finger was pointed at anyone for the murder of Arshad Sharif.

The Supreme Court ordered the concerned authorities to register the case of Arshad Sharif's murder by tonight and also ordered to submit the inquiry report today (December 6).

The Kenyan police expressed their condolences to the families of the incident and added in the statement that "NPS is ashamed of this unfortunate incident, the relevant authorities are investigating the incident so that appropriate action can be taken".

Reports in the Kenyan media immediately claimed that the killing of Arshad Sharif was the result of a 'misidentification' by the police.
